"The recent call by the Ministry of Education for only fully vaccinated children of forms 4 to 6 to return physically to school has resulted in the unvaccinated students (which make up the majority of children) in examination classes receiving a lower standard of education than under the previous online only system.
Since the implementation of this policy, the turnout of students at most schools has been very poor (less than half) and the splitting of classes into vaccinated (in school) and unvaccinated (at home) has caused the children at home to fall behind even if the teacher, against the guidelines laid down by the Ministry of Education, tries to teach both modes simultaneously.
We call on the Prime Minister and the Minister of Education to reverse this inequity and return to the previous system until it is safe for students of all levels to return to physical school. In this way, all children of Trinidad and Tobago will receive the education they are entitled to without discrimination on any basis."
